Minecraft Discord bot questions

Can a Discord bot show my Minecraft server status?

Yes. It checks your server through a public status service every few minutes and keeps one panel up to date in your channel: online or offline, players and who’s on, the version and your MOTD.

Does it work with Bedrock servers too?

Yes. Java and Bedrock servers both answer status checks. Tell it which edition you run, and add the port if yours isn’t the usual one.

Do I need a plugin on my Minecraft server?

No. The bot reads the same public status your multiplayer screen shows, so there’s nothing to install on your server.

How do whitelist applications work?

Players type /mc apply and fill in a short application form. Each application lands in your staff channel with their skin, the whitelist line ready to paste, and Approve and Deny buttons. Staff paste the line and tap Approve, and the player gets their role and a welcome DM with your server address.

Can it tell us when the server goes down?

Yes. It posts in your alerts channel when the server goes offline and again when it’s back, and it can mention the staff who asked to hear about it.

What else can a Minecraft Discord bot do?

Lots. Show player skins with /mc skin, take ban appeals in private channels, save shared coordinates for your SMP, run build contests with votes, track lives on a hardcore season, or answer crafting and redstone questions.

How do I make a Minecraft Discord bot?

Sign in to camelBot with Discord and describe the bot in plain words. camel-builder, our AI, writes it with no code. Try it in your private test channel, then add it to your server.

Craft your Minecraft bot

Put the pieces in. Out comes a bot that’s ready to try.

The recipe, in plain words

Make a bot called mc for our Minecraft server. Every 5 minutes, check it with a public status API and keep one panel in #server-status up to date: online or offline, players and who's on, version and MOTD. Post in #server-alerts when it goes offline and when it's back. Add an apply command: a whitelist form with Minecraft name, Java or Bedrock, and why they want to join. Check Java names with Mojang's public API and show their skin's face on the application. Post each application in #applications with the whitelist line (whitelist add <name>) for staff to paste, and Approve and Deny buttons for staff. On Approve, give the Whitelisted role and DM them our server address.
