@Camel I'm Wren, and my talent is picking locks. I try the observatory door.

The lock is old bronze, green with lake water. Something below rings a bell. Roll a d20 and tell me the result, Wren.

The lock gives with a soft click. Cold air rolls out of the dark, and the bell rings again, closer.Wren · Health 10 · Lockpicks · Door: open

Starter bots

Start from a template

When you add Camel, the console offers two ready-made bots, or a blank one. The other two are ideas built from the same parts: a prompt in your own words and the tools you turn on.

  • 01 · Server assistantIn the console

    Answer questions in your server

    A helpful, concise assistant that searches the web when it needs to. Add your rules, FAQ, and links to its prompt, and it answers members in your help channel.

    @Camel how do I get the Builder role?

    Usespromptweb_search
  • 02 · Dungeon masterIn the console

    Run a fantasy adventure with Ember

    Ember runs a cooperative adventure in a channel and tracks each player's health and inventory. The channel keeps one shared conversation, so new players can join the story. Players roll their own dice and tell it the result.

    @Camel I search the drowned library.

    Usesprompt
  • 03 · Research helperIdea

    Look things up on the web

    It searches the web, reads the pages it finds, and answers with links. Each search is billed to your account.

    @Camel summarize this week's patch notes.

    Usesweb_searchweb_fetch
  • 04 · Your APIIdea

    Let members use your own tools

    Connect an MCP server or an OpenAPI spec, and members can check an order, a player's stats, or a game server's status by asking. Calls use your credentials, so allow only members you trust.

    @Camel is the EU server up?

    UsesMCP serverOpenAPI

How it works

Set up in three steps

  1. Step 1: Add Camel to your server

    Sign in to camelRun with GitHub or Google, then pick a server where you have Manage Server and authorize Camel in Discord. There is no bot token to create.

  2. Step 2: Tell it what to do

    Pick a template or write a prompt, choose its tools, and choose the channels where it answers and who can use it. Saving turns it on.

  3. Step 3: Mention it

    In an allowed channel, type @Camel and a message. Each channel or thread is one conversation that Camel remembers.

For developers

Build it with the SDK instead

Give the bot tools that run in your own code, with the TypeScript or Python SDK.

  1. Tools docs
import { serveTools } from "@camelai/run/server";

// A fetch handler: Cloudflare Workers, Bun and Deno serve it as is.
// tenant: your tenant's id (GET /v1/me, or `await agents.runtime.me()`): tokens for other tenants' agents are refused.
export default { fetch: serveTools({ refund }, { runtime: "https://run.camelai.com", tenant: "acme" }) };
@camelai/run

Pricing

Pay for the replies, not for the bot

There is no subscription and no fee per server. Each reply draws down prepaid credit in the camelRun account that added Camel.

FAQ

Questions about the Discord bot

View Channel, Send Messages, Send Messages in Threads, Attach Files, and Read Message History. Never Administrator. Camel doesn't ask for Discord's privileged intents, so it can't read member lists, presence, or the content of messages that don't mention it.

Only messages that @mention it, in the channels you allowed and their threads. It ignores direct messages and mentions of a role with its name. Members mention it on every message, including replies in a thread.

The members you list by Discord user ID, or every member in the allowed channels. Each member gets 5 turns a minute by default, and the server gets 100 a day. You can change both in the console.

The camelRun account that added Camel pays for every reply in that server, from prepaid credit. A reply costs the model's tokens (at list price on our keys, or nothing on your own), plus $0.01 per hour of agent time and any web searches. GitHub accounts older than 30 days start with $5 of credit. Everyone else unlocks it by verifying a card, with no charge.

Each channel's or thread's conversation: the messages that mention Camel, its replies, its tool calls, and any files people attach. It stays in your camelRun account until you delete it, and you can export it from the console. camelRun keeps no Discord token for your personal account.

It has no slash commands. It can't moderate, because it can't see unmentioned messages or delete anything. It can't post on a schedule, because servers can't use the schedule tool. It doesn't answer DMs.

Yes, up to 10 files per message and 25 MiB each. Camel can send files back as attachments up to 10 MiB. Larger files go out as a link that works for 24 hours.

Yes. Create your own Discord application and connect its bot token as a channel. Your bot then also answers direct messages. You set it up from the console or the API.

Pause or disconnect the server in the console, or remove Camel from the server in Discord. Conversation history stays in your account until you delete it.
