We launched camelBot, a Discord bot builder with a private test channel

In camelBot, you can test a new Discord bot by talking to it as pretend members in a channel that only you can see.
camelBot is camelAI's Discord bot builder. We launched it quietly at bots.camelai.com earlier this month. It's been doing well, so we're announcing it now.
You sign in with Discord and say what the bot should do. camel-builder, the assistant in camelBot, writes the bot's code and checks it. When you ask for a change, camel-builder makes it. If you add the camel app to your Discord account, /camel create starts building in your DMs with camel. It's the same conversation as on the web.
What a bot can do
Each bot can use:
- Slash commands, buttons, menus, and pop-up forms
- AI replies, images, and voice transcription
- Schedules and timers
- Its own database, up to 100 MB, which you can download
- Calls to public web APIs
A bot can now also time out, kick, and ban members, give and take roles, open private channels and threads, and greet people when they join. With your OK, it can also delete anyone's messages in its channels, purge spam in bulk, DM members, and edit, lock, or hide any channel in your server. Otherwise, a bot deletes only its own messages, though a ban can remove a member's recent message history. Discord's install screen asks for those permissions only for bots that use them.
Try every change before you publish
Every change goes to a private test channel first, named #try-{name} after the bot. The channel is labeled "Only you see this. Nothing goes to Discord." You can talk to the bot as yourself or as pretend members, press its buttons, and run its schedules by hand.
Publishing is always your click. Each publish is a version you can roll back to. Rolling back keeps the bot's saved data. The Add to Discord button opens Discord's own screen, where you pick the server and the channel.
Camel's app or your own
New bots run on Camel's app and reply as "camel". Their commands start with the bot's name, like /quizzy trivia. If you connect your own Discord app, which takes about five minutes, the bot gets its own name, picture, and commands like /trivia.
Try camelBot
camelBot is free while it's in beta. AI use in your bots draws on a daily allowance. camelBot is built on camelRun, our hosted runtime for AI agents.
You can start a bot at bots.camelai.com. The camelBot page explains how it works. For bot ideas and answers to common questions, see the Discord bot builder page.
