How do I make a dice roller Discord bot?
Sign in to camelBot with Discord and describe a DnD dice bot for your server in plain words. Say which rolls it handles, and add a secret GM roll or initiative if you like. Our AI writes it with no code. Try it in a private test channel, then add it to your server.
What dice notation can it roll?
Whatever your table uses. Standard notation like 2d6+3, d20+5 and 1d8+1d6-1, keep highest and keep lowest like 4d6kh3 and 2d20kl1, and advantage or disadvantage. Your bot shows every die, marks the dropped ones, and adds up the total.
Can the GM roll in secret?
Yes. Give the GM a private roll command, like /gmroll. Discord shows the result only to the person who rolled, marked Only you can see this.
How does the initiative tracker work?
Players add their characters with a bonus, and one command rolls for everyone and sorts the order. A Next turn button moves the turn, round after round. Your bot saves each channel’s fight in its own database, so two tables can play at once.
Can players type just /roll?
Yes. Connect your own Discord app and your commands are /roll and /init next, under your bot’s own name and picture. On Camel’s app, commands start with your bot’s name, like /dice roll.
What do I need to get started?
A Discord account and a server where you can add bots. No code, API keys or character sheet service. Players type their own bonuses, or your bot can save their sheets.
Is a dice roller Discord bot free?
Yes. Building it costs nothing during the beta, with no credit card. Plain dice rolls use no AI at all.
Does it work for other tabletop games?
Yes. Describe your game’s dice, like pools that count successes, Fate dice or d100 skill checks, and your bot rolls them your way.
