CamelQA, Inc., doing business as camelAI ("we", "us"), runs camelBot at bots.camelai.com. camelBot lets a Discord server's staff build bots with an AI builder, and those bots run on our shared Discord app, camelBot. A server owner can also run a bot on their own Discord application through camelBot; those bots are processed by the same systems, and everything in this policy applies to them in the same way, so it covers every camelBot bot. This policy explains what Discord data camelBot processes for those bots, how long we keep it, who we share it with, and how to stop it. It covers the people in servers where a camelBot bot runs. Your own camelBot sign-in (your Discord user ID, name, avatar, servers, and email) is covered by the camelAI Privacy Policy.
The short version. We process a server's messages and member events only for bots that server's staff set up to receive them. We don't use Discord message content or member data to train AI models, and we don't sell it or share it for advertising. Server staff can stop all processing at any time by removing a bot or the camelBot app, and deleting a bot deletes its data.
1. What we process
- Messages. camelBot processes a server's messages only for bots that the server's staff added to a channel, or set to "All channels", which needs the Manage Server permission. A message event that no bot handles is never stored.
- Member events. When members join, leave, or are updated, camelBot processes those events only for bots that have member events turned on, and only in servers those bots were added to.
- What a bot saves. Each bot can keep its own stored data. What it saves is decided by the code its server's staff publish.
- Activity records. Each bot keeps a record of what it did, which includes the Discord user IDs and display names of the members involved.
2. How we use it
We use this data only to run the bots a server added: to deliver each event to the right bot, run its code, send its replies and other actions back to Discord, and keep the service working and secure, including debugging failed events.
We do not use Discord message content or member data to train AI models. We do not sell it, and we do not share it for advertising.
3. AI model providers
When a bot uses AI, we send the relevant message text to an AI model provider for that request, either through OpenRouter (which routes it to hosts such as Parasail, Baseten, DeepSeek, and Relace) or to Microsoft Azure OpenAI. The provider returns the result, and the bot uses it in its reply.
4. Who else receives it
- AI model providers, as described above, only when a bot uses AI.
- Hosting. Our servers, databases, and file storage run on Amazon Web Services.
- Discord, which receives whatever a bot sends back to a server.
- Legal and business. When the law requires it, to protect camelBot and its users, or as part of a merger, financing, or sale.
5. How long we keep it
| Data | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Events a bot has handled | The queue keeps only which bot the event went to and what kind of event it was, and deletes that within a day. |
| Events that failed | 3 days, for debugging. |
| A small sample of handled messages | 24 hours. |
| Bot debug logs | 7 days. |
| A bot's own stored data | Whatever its staff's code saves, until the bot is deleted. |
| Bot activity records (including members' Discord user IDs and display names) | Until the bot is deleted. |
| One-off AI requests | Deleted within about a minute. |
| AI-character conversations | Deleted after 30 days without activity. |
| Database backups | 14 days. |
| Earlier versions of stored files | 30 days. |
6. Your choices
Server staff can unbind or delete a bot, or remove the camelBot app from their server, at any time. That stops all processing for that bot or server. Deleting a bot deletes its data, on the schedule above.
Individual members can't opt out message by message. To have data about you deleted, ask the server's staff, or contact us at support@camelai.com or in our Discord support server. We will verify the request and respond as the law where you live requires; depending on where you live, you may have further rights, including complaining to a privacy regulator.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit with TLS and encrypted at rest (AWS RDS and S3). Our databases are not reachable from the public internet, and only our operators can access production systems. A bot's owners see only their own bots' data. No system is perfectly secure.
8. Where data lives
We are a United States company. Our hosting and AI model providers may process data in the United States and in other countries, whose laws may differ from yours.
9. Changes
We will post updates to this policy here with a new "last updated" date.
